American Greetings Take Over The World of Ecards

American Greetings Corporation continues its expansion online. It announced it would buy PhotoWorks, Inc. in a $26.5 million deal on Nov. 28, 2007. American Greetings has just recently acquired Webshots.comfrom CNET in a $45 million fire-sale transaction. Fool.com has an article, Greetings, Dot-Com Media Mogul, about the two acquisitions.

In October 2007, due to Halloween and Sweetest Day celebrated in the month, the traffic to American Greetings Property has increased by 53 percent to 10.3 million visitors, according to the comScore Media Metrix Releases Top 50 Web Rankings for October.

American Greetings Property owns many websites, in addition to its flagship site, americangreetings.com. Here are just the ones listed on the website.

What the site doesn't list are some niche sites that the company has recently acquired in 2006-2007. Sugarqube.com and the ever popular Jacquie Lawson website are now part of the company. Both domain names belong to AG.com. Check out the email addresses in their domain registries.

Although there was no press release or announcement for the acquisition of jacquielawson.com, sugarqube.com has since closed its door and its ecard collection, some of them at least, now resides in American Greetings website under its own section.

With the main americangreetings.com website, its ecard services through Yahoo.com and MSN.com, and jacquielawson.com, American Greeting Property now dominates the membership ecard traffic.
